The Government of Ghana has renewed curfew hours in Nalerigu Township and its surrounding communities in the East Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region. The curfew, which runs from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., takes effect from Thursday, August 14, 2025.

The decision, announced by the Minister for the Interior, follows advice from the National Security Council and was formalized through an Executive Instrument. It forms part of ongoing security measures aimed at maintaining law and order in the area.

Authorities have appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders, the youth, and residents to remain calm and exercise restraint amid ongoing tensions. They urged the community to resolve disputes through peaceful, non-violent means in order to safeguard stability and unity.

The government has also reinforced a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons in the township and its environs. Security agencies have warned that anyone found in breach of this directive will be arrested and prosecuted.
