Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, has issued a stern warning to police officers who were deployed during the recent Ablekuma North rerun election, accusing them of standing idle in the face of violence.

In a recent broadcast of his program “The Evidence”, Abronye expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the conduct of the police at the polling centre, alleging that they failed in their duty to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair electoral process.

I still do not understand why police officers, whose core duty is to maintain law and order, watched on as violence erupted,” he lamented during the show.

He further claimed that the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration may be complicit in the events that transpired at the polling centre, pointing fingers at government influence in what he described as a breakdown of electoral security.

In what appears to be a direct threat, Abronye cautioned the officers involved in the incident to consider retirement before the NPP potentially returns to power. According to him, those who failed to act responsibly would be held accountable.

They should retire now. When we return to power, they will answer for their actions,” he declared.

Meanwhile, Accramail.com has received reports confirming that NPP stalwart and Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson, who was allegedly assaulted during the electoral process, is recovering well after receiving medical treatment.

The Ablekuma North rerun has been marred by tensions and accusations, drawing national attention to the conduct of security personnel during elections. The Ghana Police Service is yet to respond officially to Abronye’s remarks.
