The founder of Heaven Way Church, Nana Agradaa, has been convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with hard labor after a court found her guilty of defrauding scores of people through a widely publicized money-doubling scheme.

Agradaa, known in private life as Patricia Asiedua, was convicted on multiple counts of defrauding by false pretenses and charlatanic advertisement. According to prosecutors, she used television broadcasts and social media platforms to promote claims that she possessed supernatural powers to double money for her followers in exchange for large cash offerings.

The court established that her activities preyed on the desperation and faith of unsuspecting victims, many of whom parted with their savings believing they would receive miraculous financial rewards.

Prior to sentencing, the presiding judge ordered that Agradaa undergo a pregnancy test to determine whether any special conditions would apply to her confinement. The results of that test have not been disclosed publicly.

Her legal team has announced plans to file an appeal against both the conviction and the sentence.
